BI 231 - Introduction to Geographic Information Systems Semester Hour(s): 3 Semester(s) Offered: Fall even years This course will provide an introduction to the fundamentals of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology and how it is applied in environmental planning, health care, natural resource management and formal ecological research. Students will learn the methods by which geographic information is collected, organized, analyzed and presented. A series of lab exercises will illustrate the typical steps necessary to complete a GIS project and will culminate with the students carrying out and evaluating both individual and group projects.
