Semester Hour(s): 3 This course focuses on the foundations of literacy, including theory and research. The history of literacy development and teaching in the United States and the impact state and federal mandates have on them will be explored. Emphasis is directed to early and emergent literacy. Candidates learn to integrate all components of literacy to develop fully literate individuals.
