SP 101L - Beginning Spanish I Language Lab

Semester Hour(s): 1
Semester(s) Offered: Fall and Spring
Co-Requisite(s): SP 101
Students will participate in a longitudinal community project that spans the time of the semester. Community Based Learning (CBL) initiatives are designed to unite classroom theory and practice with an intended purpose of promoting a more just and compassionate world while creating mutually beneficial relationships with our surrounding community. CBL experiences allow students the opportunity to leave their comfort zone while gaining a greater understanding of Hispanic culture, honing in on communicative language skills, and providing valuable resources to the community. The CBL Initiative is a multi-step project that has various assignments due on specific dates throughout the semester and are noted in the course calendar. As a main component of the project, students will spend at least 3 hours serving a Spanish-speaking organization in the community. Each hour will be followed up with a specific self-reflective essay assignment. At the end of the semester, each student will participate in a short presentation showcasing their experience.
