MT 208 - Advanced Math for Secondary Teachers Semester Hour(s): 3 Semester(s) Offered: Spring odd years Topics from the secondary mathematics curricula presented from an advance point of view. The purpose is to expand the knowledge of content typically taught in the secondary mathematics, emphasizing advance 1 topics from algebra, geometry, trigonometry, statistics/probability, discrete mathematics and the fundamental theorem of calculus. The purpose of this course is to provide opportunities for prospective secondary math teachers to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of high school mathematics content. They will also have the opportunity to explore connections between high school and college mathematics topics. Key math concepts are revisited in light of their applicability to High School mathematics. Students will review previous content knowledge and bring depth of understanding of mathematics to topics they will likely teach in grades 7 - 12. This will supplement the material at an advance level; therefore the A YA math major will be better prepared for the OAE exams.
